What is FinTech ?
FinTech is a word made up of finance and technology, and in the past few years in Europe and the United States it has become established as a term to describe the trend of innovation in the financial IT field, as well as startup companies that provide innovative services and the services they provide.
It is said that the Lehman Shock of 2008 caused an outflow of financial talent into the IT industry, accelerating the growth of the FinTech startup industry.
Dentsusoken has been focusing on FinTech trends in the European and US financial services markets since early on and is the only Japanese company to have participated in FINOVATE, one of the world’s largest FinTech events, since its first event in 2007. In addition, in 2012, we launched Japan’s first FinTech pitch contest, the Financial Innovation Business Conference (FIBC), and have been contributing to the creation of a FinTech ecosystem through various initiatives.
Examples of initiatives
FINOLAB (The FinTech Center of Tokyo Fino Lab)
In 2016, in collaboration with Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and Dentsu Inc., we opened Japan’s first FinTech industry base, FINOLAB, in Otemachi.
“Let’s create the soil, environment, and ecosystem in Japan that will give birth to the world’s best financial innovation.”
Promising FinTech ventures and stakeholders who share this passion have come together to work together to generate innovation, expand the ecosystem, and improve the business environment.
